DAFgiving360™ Privacy Notice
Effective: September 27, 2024
This Privacy Notice (“Notice”) describes how Donor Advised Charitable Giving, Inc. (“DAFgiving360”, “we,” “our,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares certain personal information obtained when you visit our website (“Site”) or enroll in services provided by us (together, the “Services”). By using our Services and providing us with personal information about you, you are agreeing to the terms described in this Notice.
Information We Collect
We collect personal information directly from you when you browse, use, or otherwise interact with our Services, including when you open a donor-advised fund (DAF) account, visit our Site, or contact us. We may also collect information about you from our partners, including Charles Schwab & Co. and its affiliates, service providers, and other third parties, such as marketing partners and third parties that we use to verify your identity.
Account applications. When you create an account with DAFgiving360, we collect personal information from you in order to process your application, including name, phone number, address(es) and email address; Social Security number and date of birth; information relating to your donation or any secondary account holder; as well as other information necessary to verify your identity.
Transaction and experience information. After you have opened a DAF account with us, we collect personal information about transactions and experiences with DAFgiving360 related to that account, including contributions, grant recommendations, and similar information relating to the donor’s DAF account.
Other personal information collected through use of the Services. We collect information automatically when you use the Services, including when you browse our Site. To the extent you use certain features of the Site, such as the “Contact Us” feature, we will collect the personal information you provide to us, which may include your name, email address, and phone number.
Web logs. Web logs automatically record information and details about your online interactions with us. For example, web logs may record information about your visit to our Site on a particular time and day and collect information such as your device ID or IP address.
Cookies. When you visit our Site, our web server sends a cookie to your computer. A cookie is simply an electronically transmitted file that holds small pieces of information. When you navigate through our Site, your browser “requests” pages for you to view, and that request will include the information stored in the cookie we previously sent to your computer. This process is like an electronic “handshake” between our system and your computer; the information exchanged allows us to recognize your browser. Cookies may be either persistent or session-based:
- Persistent Cookies: Persistent cookies remain on your computer after you've closed your browser or turned off your computer. They include a unique identifier for your browser that only DAFgiving360 can read and use, and whether you are a donor. We do not store account numbers or passwords in persistent cookies.
- Session Cookies: Session cookies exist only during an online session with DAFgiving360. They disappear from your computer when you close your browser software or turn off your computer. Session cookies allow you to conduct transactions or request your own personal or account information on our Site. This information allows us to process your online transactions and requests. Examples include a request to see your account balance or make grant recommendations. Without session cookie information, we would not be able to process web transactions securely. Session cookies help us make sure you are who you say you are after you've logged in.
Pixel tags. A pixel tag (also known as a web beacon, clear graphics interchange format (GIF), pixel, or tag) is an image or a small string of code that may be placed in an advertisement or email. It allows companies to set or read cookies or transfer information to their servers when you load a webpage or interact with online content. For example, on our Site and in emails we sometimes include a GIF. They allow us to keep your session active while you may be doing research (such as which organizations to donate to) so that you will not have to log in again when you return to the Client Center. In an email message, we may embed a GIF in the message that allows us, for example, to determine if your email reader is HTML capable or how fast your connection to the Internet is. This allows us to deliver content in a format most appropriate to your computer's capabilities.
SDKs and mobile advertising IDs. Our Services may include third-party software development kits (“SDKs”) that allow us and our service providers to collect information about your activity. In addition, some mobile devices come with a resettable mobile advertising ID (such as Apple’s IDFA and Google’s Advertising ID) that, like cookies and pixel tags, allow us and our service providers to identify your mobile device over time for advertising purposes.
Third-party plugins. Our Services may include plugins from other companies, including social media companies. These plugins may collect information about the pages you visit, and share it with the company that created the plugin even if you do not click on the plugin. These third-party plugins are governed by the privacy policies and terms of the companies that created them.
Third-party online tracking and behavioral advertising. We may partner with certain third parties to collect, analyze, and use some of the personal and other information described in this section to provide you with DAFgiving360 advertisements that may be relevant to your interests, as determined by your activity on DAFgiving360 and non-DAFgiving360 websites. Advertising companies may use cookies to understand your interests based on, for example, pages visited and browsing patterns.
Aggregated and de-identified information. From time to time, we may aggregate or de-identify information about your use of our Services, such as pages you visit or your transactions, and share that information with third parties. Such aggregated information will not identify you personally.
