October 31, 2022, SAN FRANCISCOSchwab Charitable™, one of the largest national providers of donor-advised funds and other philanthropic services, announced The Schwab Charitable Giving Guide was honored at the WealthManagement.com 2022 Industry Awards as the leading initiative in a new category for Charitable Giving and Donor-Advised Funds.

The WealthManagement.com Industry Awards program recognizes outstanding organizations and individuals that support financial advisor success. The 2022 awards introduced a Charitable Giving/Donor Advised Funds category to honor a new or enhanced program, product or platform that supports charitable giving. Schwab Charitable took home the inaugural honors in this category for The Schwab Charitable Giving Guide, an interactive planning tool designed to enable advisors and their clients to make a thoughtful, strategic plan to maximize donors’ charitable impact.

“I am thrilled to see the industry recognize The Schwab Charitable Giving Guide and the benefits that it provides donors, advisors, and nonprofits alike,” said Sam Kang, President of Schwab Charitable. “This tool is the culmination of amazing work from a team dedicated to helping everyday donors on their philanthropic journey, and I’m proud to see their impact recognized.”

WealthManagement.com received nominations from over 300 companies amounting to a record-setting 900+ nominations this year, ultimately presenting 105 awards during a ceremony held Thursday, September 8 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City. The winners, including The Schwab Charitable Giving Guide, were selected by a panel of 14 independent judges from the wealth management industry.

The Schwab Charitable Giving Guide is a comprehensive tool designed to enable advisors and their clients to make a thoughtful, strategic plan to maximize donors’ charitable impact. The flexible resource includes five sections about aspects of charitable planning: identify goals, establish structure, create a plan, implement a plan, and explore further. The completion of eight decision-point activities contained in the Guide generate a complete, customized Giving Planner, which can be utilized and adjusted by an advisor, client or their family at any point in time.

Advisors have been active users of the Giving Guide to help donors achieve even greater philanthropic impact, accounting for nearly 25% of all downloads last fiscal year. There have been over 1,000 downloads to date, and over 240 advisors and firms have downloaded the advisor-facing support materials. Schwab Charitable has heard directly from advisors about how the Guide has initiated and informed charitable planning conversations with clients, helping grow assets at Schwab Charitable that are associated with an advisor to 76%. The Guide has also garnered positive feedback from nonprofits who have received grants from Schwab Charitable donors.
