Schwab Charitable – Strategic Giving Simplified

Schwab Charitable Fund offers very competitive administrative fees which cover the expenses of operating a donor-advised fund account. These include donor services online and phone support, grants administration, account statements and communications. To cover the costs associated with these services, we assess an account administrative fee on a quarterly basis that is automatically reflected in the value of the account's investment pools (for donor-advised accounts) or deducted from the account (for professionally-managed accounts). In addition, professionally-managed accounts with < $1MM also have an investment oversight fee of $250 per quarter.

Investment fees vary depending on how an account is invested. For stocks and bonds, the fees are typically in the form of commissions when they are traded. For mutual funds, the fees are in the form of operating expenses charged by the fund provider.

Donor-advised accounts are invested in Schwab Charitable investment pools whose operating expenses vary with the underlying mutual funds. The fees are reflected in the value of each investment pool.

Professionally-managed accounts can be invested in a variety of investments whose fees structures and operating expenses will vary. In addition, negotiated investment fees are paid directly to the investment advisor.
